Student Judgement and Engagement
Student judgment and engagement with social media
· Black (2010) states “Gen Y maybe the most-socialized generation in the digital world and the most-isolated generation in the physical world.” · Wright et al. (2014) used the “Visitors and Residents Model” to map student attitudes towards the use of google plus social network for academic purposes. In this model, “visitors use the internet in functional terms as a tool”, “while residents see the internet as a social space.” · Bennett et al. (2008) argues that while technology is embedded in our lives, the way that each individual interacts with and uses it is unique. Therefore, the way students use social media within the classroom and outside are revealed in each individual case.
